COGENERATION FOR ALUMINIUM DIE-CASTING

AND REPLACEMENT OF THE OLD EVAPORATOR
FEED BY HEAT PUMP WITH A NEW
SYSTEM FEED BY HOT WATER

Introduction of a cogeneration system in an Aluminium Die-Casting Plant in the province of Varese. The CHP entails the constant production of 120 kWe that powers the production department, and 180 kWt to ensure heating in the winter season, and power a 4000 litre/day under-vacuum evaporator at no additional costs.
For this reason, an old electric heat pump concentration unit has been replaced with a new hot water evaporator. Apart from eliminating the energy costs almost entirely, by working with the hot water produced by the cogenerator, the quantity of wastewater to be disposed of has been reduced, by increasing the level of concentration of waste release agents from 83% to 96%.
Just like in the previous plant, the release agent is used to create a new release agent, or as partial reintegration in the cooling tower. The cubic meters per year destined to disposal dropped from 216 to 50.
